Hi, I’m Andy.

I’m an artist, producer, and creative leader. A few years back I left the safety of a “day job,” and started contracting live performances and zany think-tank ideas as a way to make my living. Turns out people liked my performances, leadership and other creative stuff! Today, I use my leadership and ideas to help navigate a larger multigenerational church through a changing landscape. I’m most excited about creativity when it intersects and affects people.

Each week I post a thought, drawing, video or song that deals with the stuff I care about.

Check out my homepage, my music page

Send me an email - I always write back.

Xmas 4 Everyone

Tonight, I crashed a very important party - Christmas For Everyone. The hosts were a handful of students here at Calvary who had put together a mixture of the arts - ceramics, photography, live music, paintings. I had a chance to hear some really great covers by some emerging student-singer/songwriters. I also bid at their silent auction. (I imagine my bids would have been even higher had I drank more from their rootbeer tiki bar.)

The proceeds of the night (i.e the cover charge and the silent auction bids) go to Advent Conspiracy. This is a worshipful movement that Calvary is involved in. Proceeds from various “offerings” through out the church will bring clean water to 2 villages in Cambodia. We have standing relationships in Cambodia and are excited to see the lives of these villagers changed forever. Its crazy to think there are more than 2000 people in these villages who have to walk great distances to find any potable water source.

Check out some pics from tonight.

Hanging out at “Rice Field” here in Maui. Probably one of the most beautiful spots overlooking the valley. It was a nice place to be still before jumping into a few hours of noise - PA speakers, lights, and break dancing (I made the last one up).

Off to Maui! This isn’t really the set list. I found it suspiciously on my desk today though. It appears as though someone on staff was trying to suggest I need a little more ROCK in my acoustic looping set. Bring it!

I Mean Business! Ezra Gordon helped me put together amazing new biz cards. We’ll hand out these bad boys to those interested in booking. A few months back, I realized I had a problem when an industry professional was stoked on my music and asked me for a CD and biz card. This guy is a big freak’n deal potentially opening an enormous door and I didn’t have either on me. What a rookie move! Oh well, it ending up playing to my advantage. Fast-forward to now. My new looping set is killer and I look forward to debuting it in Maui later this week. Who knows, maybe Jesus will be there and ask me for a card. I’d love to get booked by Jesus (although I hear the pay isn’t great).

Summer 09. Way too fast.
I don’t know how you feel about it but summer is wrapping up way too quick for me.
I traveled quite a bit and took with me my trusty Blackberry Storm (for pics) and an “analog” notebook where I jotted down different ideas. It was crazy to be in rural India where I could take a pic and immediately post to FB. We live in a ridiculous time period for sure.
Over the next several weeks, as I prepare for a Maui tour and a large deal here in Down Town San Jose, I look forward to posting some fresh stuff. Likewise, I’m looking into some freshening up of the site (some new pics, maybe even some new-behind-the-scenes technology changes).
Time for bed. Up at 6:30am for a run & early AM creativity. Don’t forget to do your yoga.

Setting records!
Today, we gathered as ONE church community at 10:45am. Its important to come together from time to time and to celebrate the ways God is moving in the hearts and lives of people.
Today, with record breaking temperatures, we also got to witness record numbers of baptisms within the Calvary community. 40 people chose to give their lives to Christ publically - to follow his teachings of loving kindness.
I took a quick picture of the list of names:
